Welcome to the SHS MTB Team website.
The Salinas High School Mountain Bike Club was the first organized public high school team in Monterey County and part of the NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League. Each year we’ve had lots of fun and great success, and the team has grown and developed great riders. The team took second place overall in the highly competitive 2011 NorCal Racing Series and many of our riders were consistently on the podium.
We are now nearing our fifth racing season with a team of twenty riders and are preparing for five upcoming races and the state championship to be held in May. Preparing for the races involves many hours on the trail with coaches and ride leaders. Being part of the team has provided an outlet for students to improve riding skills, build character, make friends, and keep physically active. Like other NorCal League schools, our program seeks to strike a balance between being a competitive individual and team sport while retaining some gentler recreation club qualities.
